Go Live & Start Marketing!

At this point, your store is about ready to go live! There are just a few, final steps to take.

TEST THE SITE
Test your site by creating an account and going through all of the purchasing steps. Take notes of any changes you would like to make for each page.

NOTE: If you have payPal set up as your form of payment, you can not use your own payPal account to place an order from your web site. Have a family member, friend, or employee test the site while you are with them. You will be able to refund the payment they sent to you through the payPal web site.

NOTE: On the Shopping Cart page you will see the following text, "You may want to add some instructions for using the shopping cart here. (defined in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php)". There is no way to change this text from the Zen Cart admin panel. You must use an FTP program or your web host control panel to change this text.

Follow these instructions for changing this file using BlueHost or Host-99 hosting.
  • Log in to your web host control panel using the username and password your host provided.
  • In the "Files" section of your cPanel click on "File Manager".
  • A new window will open showing all of the directories and files hosted on your server.
  • Double click on the "includes" folder.
  • Double click on the "languages" folder.
  • Double click on the "english" folder.
  • Click once on the shopping_cart.php file.
  • Click on the "Edit" button at the top of the page.
  • Find the line that begins with define('TEXT_INFORMATION', (the fourth define listed)
  • Change the text within the single quotation marks. NOTE: Your new text MUST begin and end with a single quotation mark. If it does not, your site will be inoperable.
  • Click "Save Changes" at the top of the page.

Make the changes you noted and retest the process. When no more changes are required, you are ready to make your site live and open to the public.

GO LIVE!
The final step.
  • Scroll over Configuration and click on Web Site Maintenance in your Zen Cart admin panel.
  • Click "Edit" for Down for Maintenance: ON/OFF
  • Select False and click update.

Congratulations, your online business is now up and running!
